Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte
A famous pilgrimage site situated on top of a hill, known for its beautiful Baroque staircase and incredible views of the city. You can climb more than 600 steps or take the funicular for an easier ascent.
Braga Cathedral (Sé de Braga)
One of the oldest cathedrals in Portugal, with construction dating back to the 12th century. Its mix of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles is truly impressive.
Braga Historical Center
We will stroll through the charming streets of the city, filled with cafés, shops, and monuments, with highlights such as Praça da República (the main square) and the Fonte do Ídolo.
In Braga’s historic center, we will end the morning with a delicious lunch at a traditional Braga restaurant.
After lunch, we will head to Guimarães area, where we will start by visiting the Sanctuary of Penha.
At the Sanctuary of Penha, you will have the opportunity to visit it as you please and enjoy the stunning views of the city.
Next, we will make our way to the center of Guimarães, where Portugal was born.
Guimarães, known as the “birthplace of Portugal,” is a vibrant city in northern Portugal, renowned for its history, architecture, and culture.
There, we will visit a palace from the early 1420s, where Afonso, Count of Barcelos, lived. We will also explore the historic center of Guimarães, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour will include visits to the main tourist sites, such as Guimarães Castle, the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, and Largo da Oliveira. You will learn about the city’s significance in Portuguese history, especially its role as the birthplace of the nation.
